The moments that made us who we are

Nick was introduced to the craft of painting in his family business working alongside his mother, father and brother while in middle school and high school.

Nick enlisted in the Active Duty Army as a mechanic and was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC, where he became airborne qualified as a paratrooper. Following the events of 9/11, he volunteered for tours in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In 2004, Nick returned home from the Army, enrolled in college, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a double minor in Tax Accounting and Managerial Accounting in 2.5 years.


Nick refined his now famous SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), created his Apprenticeship Program and won +17 industry awards for Craftspersonship and business innovation.

The live social media show Ask a Painter Live was founded. AAP is broadcast live weekly and is seen as a hallmark of Craftsmanship and entrepreneurship in the industry. Nick has broadcast from Brazil, The Emirates and from the wilderness of Canada and has had numerous notable figures as guest – including a member of This Old House and industry thought leaders. Nick joins PCA – Painting Contractors Association, a 140 year old non-profit serving to build a more professional industry and volunteers as a servant leader. He also began to travel the country and host educational events for Master Craftspeople and Entrepreneurs.

Nick focused on growing the people side of his business, recruiting some of the brightest minds from outside the industry and introducing them to the trades through an industry-leading Apprenticeship Program. The company also built an innovative leadership team composed of Project Managers, Estimators, and Coordinators. They utilized cloud computing, software and apps to deliver the fastest, most professional services to his clients.

Nick was named PCA Craftsman of the Year—an honor awarded only once annually among more than 350,000 craftspeople across North America. 2 years later one of Nick’s Apprentices Alex St. Germain won the same award. It is believed that NSPRC is the only painting company in the 140+ year history of the PCA that has ever had 2 winners!

Creation of the #SlavikShop, the HQ, offices, finishing facility for NSPRC. Nick also created innovative training modules for his apprenticeship program within the facility.

Nick was elected to the PCA Board of Directors and later became Chairman of the Board. During his tenure, he guided the nonprofit through an operational leadership transition, introduced a series of in-person events, co-created industry-leading business training programs, and oversaw a membership increase of more than 25%.

Nick innovates the process side of his business, consistently harnessing technology, artificial intelligence, and humanistic processes to find innovative ways to professionalize the trades. As the Master Craftsperson of his firm, Nick constantly tests new coatings and processes in his ‘lab’ – the #SlavikShop.
